Countdown to Boston Orientation
With only two months to go until Smithsonian Student Travel’s Boston Orientation, our staff is making the final preparations for a truly informative and enjoyable experience for our first-time group leaders.
From July 10-13, new group leaders will discover the very best sights of historic Boston—from the Freedom Trail and Bunker Hill to the genteel brownstones of Beacon Hill and Newbury Street’s trendy boutiques. Plus, group leaders will learn the ins and outs of student travel by participating in workshops with experienced group leaders and Smithsonian Student Travel staff.
Attendees of last year’s orientation continue to reflect on how valuable their orientation experience was. Kasia Minnick, a teacher from Logansport High School, Logansport in Indiana says, “I truly appreciated the opportunity to experience Boston while at the same time, getting prepared to lead my first student trip. What a weekend! Boston is an amazing city and the Smithsonian Student Travel staff is great!”
David Howard, who teaches at the Capitol Hill Magnet School in Saint Paul, Minnesota, agrees, adding, “My overall comfort-level working with Smithsonian Student Travel increased 100 times. Having the opportunity to meet the voice on the phone opens up the relationship so much more. The enthusiasm of the EF staff is contagious.”
