Fully accredited educational tours
We offer fully accredited educational tours, which means our educational trips have been recognized as academically rigorous, meeting the same standards as the nation’s best schools. No other tour company is accredited by The Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA) and by five recognized regional accrediting organizations. Because we’re accredited, we can grant high school credit to students and professional development credits to teachers for the competition of coursework associated with your tour.
Smithsonian resources enhance every tour
We will show you the best of all that the Smithsonian Institution has to offer. Because we work closely with the Smithsonian Institution, we can tailor our trips to complement your curriculum and provide your students with an educational experience they’ll never forget. Plus, our online Educator Resource Center features lesson plans, exhibits and more, all tailored to your itinerary so you can be sure your students are learning before, during and after their tours.
Interactive learning: Our hands-on method
Students don’t just learn about America – they experience it. Teach them about John F. Kennedy at his eternal flame. Recite Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech where he gave it, on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Our interactive educational trips feature activities and visits to the places where major events shaped our nation.
Educational consultants provide expertise
With the help of an educational consultant, we’ve created a variety of supplemental learning activities, designed around the particular needs of the 21st century traveler. Each activity helps students develop their 21st century skills and connect their classroom lessons to their destination in a fun, hands-on way.
Professional development for teachers
You can earn professional development credits just by leading an educational tour with Smithsonian Student Travel or by taking one of our new group leader orientation tours.
High school credit for students
Middle school and high school students can earn high school credit by going on tour and completing associated coursework with us.
