Liberty Scholarship Terms and Conditions

No purchase necessary. The scholarship program is open to students traveling with Smithsonian Student Travel at the middle school, junior high school, or senior high school level living in the United States. Employees (and their immediate families and household members) of EFSI, Inc. and its affiliates and the Smithsonian Institution are not eligible.

To apply, students must complete the application form (first and last name, grade level, phone number, email address, tour number and group leader name) and submit an original essay answering the given essay prompt to Smithsonian Student Travel at least 150 days prior to departure of their tour. Applicants may use the official entry form or submit all information by email to Liberty@SmithsonianStudentTravel.com. Hard copy entries should be mailed to Liberty Scholarship, Smithsonian Student Travel, One Education Street, Cambridge, MA 02141.

EFSI, Inc., its affiliates, agents and others working for them or on their behalf, will have the right to photograph winners and entry constitutes permission to use their name, picture, likenesses, school’s name and city and state of residence(s) in advertising for no additional compensation.

One application per person.

The Smithsonian Student Travel Liberty Scholarship program is ongoing. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Winners will be selected by Smithsonian Student Travel based upon a grading rubric applied to the entrant's essay. All decisions are final and at the sole discretion of Smithsonian Student Travel management. Due to volume of submissions received, Smithsonian Student Travel is unable to inform entrants of receipt of essay.

Winners will be notified by Smithsonian Student Travel by phone, email or standard mail. Due to volume, Smithsonian Student Travel is only able to inform winners. The odds of winning will depend on the number of eligible entries received.

The Liberty Scholarship will automatically be applied to the winner’s Smithsonian Student Travel account. Winners may decline a prize in writing within 150 days of tour departure. Alternate potential winners may be selected at the sole discretion of Smithsonian Student Travel management. Winners and all travelers must execute Smithsonian Student Travel’s Release and Agreement, Booking Conditions, etc. Smithsonian Student Travel makes no warranties with respect to the prize.

The Liberty Scholarship is void where prohibited or restricted by law and is subject to all Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations. All taxes on prizes are solely the responsibility of the winners.

Smithsonian Student Travel is not responsible for any lost or misdirected entries. Prizes are non-transferable.
